In bo6 bot lobbies, we cracked the Nursery chalkboard puzzle and released Baztura, the first Doppelghast, from his containment cell in the Service Tunnel. If you’ve made it this far, congrats—you’ve now got a Severed Arm (gross, but useful) and are just steps away from one of the most satisfying rewards in Shattered Veil: the Ray Gun Mark II. In this post, we’ll walk through unlocking the hidden armory, securing the Ray Gun, and preparing it for a series of upgrades that lead us even closer to the pet Doppelghast, Donut.

Step 1: Using the Severed Arm to Unlock the Armory

Once Baztura drops the Severed Arm, pick it up and head to the Supply Depot, just past the teleporter that links to the East Foyer. Look for a keypad-locked door with a faint red glow leaking from underneath—it’s marked as “Armory Restricted Access.”

Approach the keypad and use the action prompt to “Present Limb.” The arm will act like a grotesque biometric key, unlocking the door. Inside, you’ll find a dimly lit room with glowing blue lights and a central altar-like table where the Ray Gun Mark II is suspended inside a containment ring.

This moment is as cinematic as it is rewarding. Claim the Ray Gun, and you’ll trigger a short cutscene-style animation—complete with distorted audio logs from former scientists and flashes of early Doppelghast experiments.

Step 2: Upgrading the Ray Gun Mk II – The Canister Hunt

Now that you have the Ray Gun, you’ll need to upgrade it to harness the power needed for the next steps. This isn’t just Pack-a-Punch—we’re talking about specialized canisters scattered across the map, each tied to a miniboss or puzzle challenge.

Here’s how to find and collect the three main canisters:

🔹 Canister 1 – The Kazimir Portal Challenge

Head to the Maintenance Bay, and toss a Kazimir grenade at the cracked wall. A short gravitational anomaly will suck open a hidden room. Inside is the first canister—guarded by an armored wight. Take it down and grab the canister.

🔹 Canister 2 – The Tomahawk Pipes

In the Serpent Tunnels, use two charged Tomahawks to rotate a valve system above a gas pipeline. You’ll need to throw them in sequence to redirect the flow. Once the gas lines turn green, the canister drops from the pipe hatch.

🔹 Canister 3 – Doppelghast Reflection Puzzle

At the Observation Deck, interact with a mirror covered in runes. A shadow-version of yourself will appear. This Doppelghast clone mimics your movements. Defeat it in under 30 seconds, and you’ll receive the final canister.

With all three canisters collected, the Ray Gun Mark II now becomes eligible for Phase Charge Upgrade at the crafting table in the Conservatory. This adds bonus arc energy damage and ghost-splinter splash effects.

Step 3: Preparing for the Serpent Mound Puzzle

Upgrading the Ray Gun Mk II isn’t just about firepower—it’s a requirement for the laser puzzle ahead. Once the Ray Gun is fully upgraded, a hidden compartment in the Conservatory reveals a laser battery pack, which you’ll use at the Serpent Mound in Blog 4.

The Ray Gun also now deals bonus damage to ethereal enemies and can slow down Doppelghast movement, which makes later fights (and the final protection sequences) far more manageable.
