Xbox is enhancing its Xbox Cloud Gaming service with a fresh update that introduces a new way for players to invite others to join multiplayer games. Announced through Xbox Wire on Tuesday, this feature allows players to easily share links for multiplayer sessions in Cloud Gaming.
I tested the new feature with Age of Mythology: Retold, and it’s already up and running. To use it, players simply need to be in a multiplayer game through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Then, by opening the Xbox tab, navigating to game invites, and selecting "Anyone," you can copy a link and send it to your friends to join in. Keep in mind that anyone you invite will need an Xbox account and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to participate. Currently, this feature is available on web browsers via Xbox.com/play and on Samsung Smart TVs.
More Games Now Playable via Cloud Gaming
In addition to the new multiplayer invite feature, Xbox has also been expanding its "Stream Your Own Game" capability. Initially rolled out last year, this feature allows players to stream games they already own through Cloud Gaming. While it started with 50 games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, this year saw an expansion with more titles such as Subnautica. Now, another set of games is on its way, including popular titles like Cult of the Lamb, Atomic Heart, and Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition.
